Talking with GoldenTree

At Citymeals on Wheels, we’re able to provide vital meals and connection for our city’s most vulnerable thanks, in part, to our community and corporate partners. Last year, we worked with 160 corporate groups to make our mission to end hunger among older New Yorkers by 2040 a reality.

One of our leading partners is GoldenTree Asset Management. Their dedication shows us what’s possible when companies take an interest in the wellbeing of their older neighbors. Citymeals sat down with GoldenTree to discuss how partnership makes a difference for their employees and community at large.

Why Citymeals? What about our mission speaks to the values you want to promote at GoldenTree?

At GoldenTree, our mission has always been to create meaningful, lasting impact—both in our work and in the communities we care about. Supporting organizations like Citymeals on Wheels allows us to translate this philosophy into action, extending our impact beyond the office and into the broader communities.

How would you describe your partnership with Citymeals?

GoldenTree has partnered with Citymeals over the years to support our New York community. We worked together for an event where our employees helped to pack and prepare over 400 meals to support increased need during the holiday season.

GoldenTree was also proud to serve as the title sponsor of the Citymeals on Wheels 37th Annual Chef’s Tribute on June 10, 2024. Through our collective efforts, we were able to help raise enough funds to provide 90,000 meals for homebound older adults in New York City. This event was a testament to the power of community and the impact we can make when we come together to support those in need.

Describe the day you have planned for your employees. What do you hope they got out of this experience?

We organized a day focused on action, collaboration and connection. Over the course of the day, 27 GoldenTree employees came together to packing and preparing more than 400 meals at Citymeals’ partner meal centers, Encore Community Center and Encore West.

This experience allowed us to step outside of our usual routines and fully embrace the spirit of community service. Through these shared efforts, we aim to cultivate a deeper sense of purpose, teamwork and empathy—values that will carry forward into everything we do as a firm.

As a New York-based company, does GoldenTree feel a responsibility to help older homebound New Yorkers?

Being rooted in New York, GoldenTree’s connection to Citymeals is a natural extension of our identity. This city has shaped our firm, and we see it as both an honor and a responsibility to give back to those who helped build its rich history and culture.
