CITYMEALS ON WHEELS RAISES OVER $1.3 MILLION AT 27TH ANNUAL SUNDAY SUPPER HOSTED BY CHEF DANIEL BOULUD

(Monday, March 10, 2025 - New York, NY) - Last night, Citymeals on Wheels, along with Board Chair Chef Daniel Boulud and guest chefs, hosted the 27th Annual Sunday Supper at Restaurant DANIEL. The annual event raised over $1.3 million to deliver 130,000 nourishing meals for older New Yorkers who can no longer shop or cook for themselves.

Guest chefs included Mary Attea (Elizabeth Street Hospitality - New York, NY), Greg Frey Jr. (Golden Door - San Marcos, CA), Eunji Lee (Lysée - New York, NY), and Stéphanie Le Quellec (La Scène - Paris, France). Together, they created an unforgettable evening of fine dining supporting Citymeals and the older New Yorkers who rely on them for home-delivered meals.

"Each meal Citymeals delivers is a promise to keep our older neighbors nourished and connected. For the past 27 years, Sunday Supper has been an opportunity for New Yorkers to come together to support those who built this city,” said Chef Daniel Boulud. “Thank you to our guest chefs, sponsors, friends, and supporters whose generosity helps support this vital lifeline for older New Yorkers in need. Together, we’re making sure they’re remembered and valued in our community."

During the cocktail hour, canapés included: Chef Mary Attea’s crispy panisse with preserved lemon and herbs; Chef Greg Frey Jr.’s spring rabbit and chanterelle mousse, cabbage, herb brioche and black truffle falafel radish salad, snow pea, yuzu yogurt and kofte kale chip; Chef Stéphanie Le Quellec’s mackerel, ponzu and truffle tartlet; and Chef Daniel Boulud and Chef Eddy Leroux’s leek and hazelnut tartlet with whipped goat cheese and firefly squid tempura with harissa.

The lavish three-course dinner included: Chef Mary Attea’s tuna crudo with kumquats, Japanese turnip and yuzu; Chef Stéphanie Le Quellec’s lobster with celery heart and vanilla sauce; and Chef Daniel Boulud and Chef Eddy Leroux’s High Plains bison tournedos with miroir de truffe noire, Winnimere Vacherin, potato gratin, salsify and crosnes. Desserts were Chef Eunji Lee’s signature Lysée cake with Korean toasted brown rice mousse, Elliot pecan sablé, praliné and caramel and Lee’s petit jardin, a calamansi cream tart with pineapple-Thai basil compote and coconut mousse. Chef Shaun Velez baked petits fours: gayas, carupano and bergamot.

Fine wines accompanied each course, chosen by Restaurant DANIEL’s Chief Sommelier Erin Healy.

The evening celebrated longtime Citymeals supporter Leslie Ziff for her dedication to nourishing older New Yorkers and Honorary Board Member Florence Fabricant, who received a Lifetime Achievement accolade in recognition of her distinguished career as a food writer and decades-long support for Citymeals. Event co-chairs for the 27th Annual Sunday Supper were Nancy and Jon Bauer, Ellen and Robert S. Grimes, Lisa Rosenblum and Georgina Celebic, and Barbara Tarmy.

“Sunday Supper is a rite of spring for Citymeals and provides essential support for our mission to end elder hunger in New York City by 2040. Thanks to Chef Boulud's passion and warm hospitality, we can ensure that older New Yorkers receive the food they need and deserve,” said Beth Shapiro, CEO of Citymeals on Wheels. “And thanks to our generous supporters and sponsors, we can ensure a crucial lifeline of meals and companionship across all five boroughs.”

For 27 years, Chef Boulud has hosted this intimate dinner, inviting notable culinary talents to collaborate on an inventive multi-course menu. In this time, Sunday Supper at DANIEL has raised more than $16 million to fund home-delivered meals for older New Yorkers.

Since its founding in 1981, Citymeals has delivered more than 70 million meals. Last year, almost 18,000 volunteers gave over 25,000 hours of service to Citymeals mission. Citymeals is working to end elder hunger in New York City by 2040.
